One part mosh pit, one part capture the flag, and a million parts insane, the Japanese sport Bo-Taoshi is something that needs to make its way stateside as a group sport for drunken college students.

Bo-Taoshi, also known as Japanese Pole Pull-Down or Japanese Pole Toppling, is a sport involving 150 men, 75 on each side, a pole, and by the time it’s over a Hell of a ton of bruises. It was apparently designed as a sport for military cadets, as football is apparently not bad-ass or insane enough.

The pole is enveloped by one team, with apparently one team member climbing to the top. Once everyone is situated in a position that provides as much protection as possible, another team hurls themselves as the other and tries to topple the pole. This can involve anything from simply running full speed into the opposing team or, if you’re like the team in the video, climbing up their backs and trying to wrest control of the pole so that it can be brought down.

To reiterate: This needs to come stateside.
